Frequently Asked Questions

A Level 1 Charger runs off of 120v while a Level 2 EV Charger requires 240v.  Level 2 Chargers deliver more power to an EV than a Level 1 Chargers. 

In the USA, a Type 1 J1772 (J-Type) plug is used for Level 2 EV Chargers.  

The Level 2 EV charger plugs into a 240v outlet with a NEMA 6-50 plug.

J1772 is the plug that plugs into your car, and 14-50 refers to the wall plug of your charger. 

Yes.  A J1772 adapter comes with every Tesla.
