Metro Thunderbolt 2300W DC-to-DC Charger delivers a 40A current and has an input voltage of 12V and output of 58V.  It is installed on the alternator of a diesel of gas car.  With a power rating of 2300W, this charger powers a 48V battery or power station in as little as 1.5 hours On-Board!

Frequently Asked Questions

The DC-to-DC charger amps should not exceed 50% of the alternator’s output current.  If an alternator has at 80Ah, the DC-to-DC charger should not exceed 40 amps.  An average car’s alternator has between 80-100 Ah.

The charging time for a DC-to-DC charger is based on the battery’s capacity and the charger’s current output.  

A DC-to-DC charger takes a direct current (DC) input from a vehicle’s alternator and converts it to a different voltage of DC power to charge the battery.  

No.  DC-to-DC chargers are powered when car is running.  

DC-to-DC chargers are not complicated to install.  If you a not experienced with the mechanics of a car, however, we do recommend that you have a licensed mechanic to install the charger.  It should take less than thirty (30) minutes to install the DC-to-DC charger.

The charger is designed for minimal maintenance. Regularly check connections and clean components as needed. Detailed maintenance guidelines are provided in the user manual, and our support team is available for additional assistance.
